This briefing note captures insights from the 2050 Pathways Platform’s regional convening held in Jakarta in September 2024, as part of the IKI-funded “2050 Is Now” project.
Bringing together government representatives, experts, and development partners from Asia, Latin America, and Africa, the event focused on strengthening long-term low-emission development strategies (LT-LEDS). The note explores alignment between LT-LEDS, NDCs, and national development plans; integration of AFOLU systems in long-term planning; subnational implementation challenges; and opportunities for global ambition ahead of COP30. It highlights practical tools, country experiences, and collaborative approaches to advance inclusive, resilient, and ambitious long-term climate action. The convening underscored the importance of embedding LT-LEDS into national planning, enhancing coordination across governance levels, and integrating socioeconomic priorities.
Participants shared practical solutions to overcome implementation barriers and emphasized the role of LT-LEDS in shaping credible, finance-ready climate commitments ahead of COP30.
