Events marked with an asterisk (*) indicate COP29 events where the 2050 Pathways Platform will be actively involved—either as speakers, co-organisers, or participants. These are events of high relevance to our current projects.
Events without an asterisk represent sessions hosted by network partners. These events have a focus on LT-LEDS or long-term planning and may be of interest to our network.
As part of Africa Climate Week 2023, the 2050 Pathways Platform is co-hosting a side event on LT-LEDS in partnership with the NDC Partnership, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and IDDRI. Named LT-LEDS as a Social, Economic and Environment Instrument: Challenges and Opportunities in Africa, the hybrid event will take place on Thursday 7 September 2023 from 13.30 to 14.30 (Nairobi time) in the Atlas Mountain Room of the KICC venue. Participants can also join the session virtually via Teams.
The event will bring together representatives from multiple regions of Africa, together with international agencies and organisations that work with LT-LEDS. The main goal is to share experiences and knowledge, to raise awareness about the importance of LT-LEDS, their multidimensional components, the steps needed and the implications of developing a LT-LEDS, and possible challenges and opportunities LT-LEDS brings to countries.
The 2050 Pathways Platform will moderate a discussion of countries’ best practices and lessons learned on LT-LEDS. Speakers will include representatives from Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Eswatini’s Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the NDC Partnership and UNDP.
